Continuity Central's coverage
of email continuity strategy acknowledges the need for High
availability email strategies first pioneered by Despatches
in the 1990s.
The latest expansion of Despatches'
SOSYS EMS (Emergency Messaging System), once the first messaging
system to ensure corporate email could remain active and
functioning - no matter what natural, man-made or technology
disasters bring systems down, now allows Email centric organisations
to integrate SOSYS from nearly a dozen European Datacentres.
By 2005, an estimated 15.5 billion digital
business messages will be sent within the USA each day.
Email is the defacto communication choice of business and
non profit organisations. Email is the most relied-upon
method for corresponding with customers, employees and business
partners and accounts for more data exchanges than telephone
calls. Loss of email service translates directly into tens
of millions of Euros and Dollars worth of revenue and productivity
are lost globally each month.
Mail delivery sysytems must be trustworthy:
The value of keeping communication channels
available transcends day-to-day business usage. Recent environmental
and political events have demonstrated the role electronic
communications play in responding to and recovering from
a disaster.
"If you can't communicate, you
can't recover," states Bernard Le Moing, founder Lodinaccess.
"Email is not only critical to maintaining productivity
and revenues for an organisation under normal conditions,
in times of disaster the loss of established office communications
raise the depaendability on the remaining functioning resources,
with SOSYS that lifeline is electronic mail communications.
Keeping messaging systems available and running during a
catastrophic event can make the difference in a company's
ability to successfully respond and recover from a disaster."
Despatches' EMS Solution: SOSYS
Designed as a hot stand-by email system
that can be activated when a company's primary email system
becomes incapacitated by any number of natural, man-made
or technology disasters, SOSYS guarantees the uninterrupted,
flow of business-critical information between a company
and its customers, partners, vendors, suppliers and employees.
"Competitive advantage today is
all about speed of communication, global collaboration and
superb execution. Email's the tool. SOSYS is the Assurance
of continuity" said Jean-Patrice Hira CTO of Lodinaccess
SA, principal distributors of Despatches Secure communications
and Email continuity technologies in France.
SOSYS is built upon Solaris and Advanced
Linux platforms with Windows Server operating and feature
integrations. SOSYS and the Despatches backbone are resistant
to viruses and resillient to the hostile measures that can
often incapacitate typical enterprise messaging infrastructures.
Once activated, EMS automatically routes all email sent
to and from corporate addresses through a secure and offsite
independent messaging infrastructure managed at SunGard
or any number of other MessageOne technology partners.
The moment an outage occurs, the EMS
system instantly broadcasts alerts to company employees,
both in the office and in mobile locations, via SMS/TXT,
wireless messaging, text on pagers and alternate email addresses,
thus notifying them the emergency mail service has been
activated.
ONce Authenticated, employees can access
their email through EMS from around the globe via any Web
browser. While on the EMS system, all key corporate and
personal contact information and document transfer capabilities
are active, as if a connection failure never occurred.
Once service to the primary messaging system is returned,
everything sent and received during the emergency is automatically
merged back into the company's primary messaging environment
and reflected in users' mail systems, appearing as if a
failure never occurred.
Averaging five percent of the cost of
other disaster recovery systems on the market, Despatches
EMS is the logical and responsible choice for protecting
corporate messaging systems. Regardless of price variations,
including the number of users, storage choice and other
options, EMS equates to pennies-per-month assurance.
Since being founded in 1997, Despatches
has received perpetual funding and resources from it's investment
and affinity venture partnerships, with renewed infrastructure
and resource injections throughout every financial Quarter
of from 1999 to 2003.
